Anybody else feel that Divine Feminine energy swirling around this week? I spent last weekend at the Burlington Yoga Conference with some great friends, and ever since I got back, I have been picking up on some really intense Goddess energy around me. My friends are feeling it for sure, too – it’s like we’re all experiencing this sense of our own power for the first time in so very long.
At any rate, this New Moon in Aries is also a Supermoon – meaning that the moon is closer to the Earth than usual, which means that this is *the* time for setting intentions and planting seeds for the future.
We’ve been on this crazy cycle of letting go and doing the work in that Void, that place in-between where I always manage to get into trouble. You know what I’m talking about right? That place where you’re not quite ready to let go, but you no longer fit into the old stories you’ve been told about yourself. You know there’s something new and brighter on the horizon, but you just don’t know how you’re going to get there.
Well, here we are. This is it. The time of creation is here, with this New Moon cycle. We’re in the sign of Aries – the sign of new beginnings, of fire, of transformation. And it’s big, friends. It’s really, really big this time.
Ready to find out what we’re moving away from, what’s coming along for us in the next couple of weeks, and where we should be focusing our energy? Read on to find out what the Tarot cards told me yesterday… (I should apologize for getting this post up so late. You would think that when I have a few days in between freelance gigs that I’d have more time to write this stuff up, but nooooooooooo…)
What We’re Leaving Behind: King of Wands, 4 of Pentacles Reversed
You all know how much I loooooove these Court cards. (Sarcasm.) But here he is, the King of Wands. This King? He’s all about the stories you tell yourself about who are you. His appearance here signals the end of this period of the last 6 months where we were encouraged to go deeper into ourselves, find out what we really wanted, and decide what no longer worked for us. If you’ve done your homework and your energetic and spiritual housekeeping here, so to speak, you’re ready to move forward and embrace this transformed Self. You’re ready to take what you’ve discovered about your soul’s desires and make it happen.
And then we have the 4 of Pentacles, reversed. Look at this guy. He’s dour, he’s stingy, he’s afraid to give generously of himself AND his resources. Nobody wants to be this guy, right? When this miser shows up reversed in a reading, it means that it’s time for us to let go of the insecurities that have been holding us back and move forward with grace, and love, and total trust in the universe. When we give from the heart and we give generously, it can only come back to help us, right? I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m ready to move away from this overwhelming materialism I’ve become aware of in my own life, and I’m ready to embrace something more mindful, something more rewarding. You see what’s just outside those walls in which this miser keeps himself imprisoned? It’s a beautiful, bright community – an indication of what’s waiting for us if we’re willing to share a little bit of what we have generously with others.
What’s Waiting For Us: The Hermit, The Star Reversed
It didn’t hit me until just this morning that these two cards representing what’s coming for us this lunar cycle are both Major Arcana. Major Arcana cards are where we find our life’s lessons, both in this present life and maybe things from the past that we need to repeat until we get it right or until we understand. Woa. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that we’re about to experience some pretty intense energy that’s going to continue to move us forward in this transformation that started six months ago.
We start with The Hermit. At first glance, he looks like a lonely old man on top of a mountain, but a closer look reveals that this is a wise man. He’s got perspective. He knows that you have to be in the dark to fully appreciate the light. He’s about wisdom, attainment, fulfillment – and maybe he shows up in this reading to tell us that we need to understand the intelligence in doing things unconventionally. The Hermit has appeared here to tell us that we do indeed possess all the answers we need, if we can make the mental space to access that wisdom. We’re coming into a period when we need to stop listening to what “everyone else” thinks about us and start focusing on what we know about ourselves to be true. You’ve got shit to do, right? The Hermit is here to show us that we now know what we need to do, and if we give ourselves the space to get quiet, we know what we have to do to get shit done.
The Star reversed, however, has shown up to tell us that it’s not all going to be easy peachy keen. As we move into this important work that we have to do – on ourselves, in our relationships, our careers, etc. – we’re going to be faced with challenges that make us feel like giving up early on in the game. Don’t give in. Never give up, never surrender – remember? Focus on the details of reality instead of allowing yourself to get carried away by the ideals in your head. You may feel as though your work has no foundation, no stability – but stick with it, anyway. You know in your heart what’s true, you just need to learn how to balance the details with the big picture. You got this!
Other Obstacles That Might Pop Up: 10 of Cups Reversed
Okay, so while we’re doing all this great work? Our families might not “get” it. They might be wondering why all these changes are necessary, especially if it looked on the outside like things were just hunky-dorey. (Does anybody even say that anymore? Okay, whatever…)
The Suit of Cups is all about emotions, and in this case, we’re being asked to look at how we feel about our family and friends. Do we feel nourished in these relationships? Is everyone really happy, or does it just look that way on the outside? Are these just superficial connections, or do they really go deeper?
Don’t be surprised if you find that your relationships with your friends and family change as the result of the changes and shifts you’re making in yourself. It might be that some of these friendships are outworn, finished. As you grow into your new light, you might find that you need to surround yourself with new people. The key here is to look at these shifts in a positive light – you might feel a little sad at having to let go of people that have been part of your world for so long, but in the end, these are all necessary for you to step into the new life that awaits you.
How We Can Overcome These Obstacles: 10 of Swords Reversed
Yikes. This 10 of Swords is all about how we think about our beginnings and endings. It doesn’t look a very pretty card, either – I mean, a body lying on the ground, covered in a dark purple cloth (maybe to represent our spirituality?), pierced with 10 jeweled swords, and blood…lots of blood.
So, before you freak out and think that you’re going to end up in a Julius Caesar-reenactment where you’re stabbed in the back by your friends and family, keep this in mind: whatever has happened to us in the past, whatever decisions we have made, they have all played a part in getting us to where we are today, here, in this space. For better or for worse, whatever the repercussions, we’ve arrived at exactly the place we were meant to be, the place where we need to be in order to learn the lessons laid out for us in this life.
Swords are about our thoughts, and the intellect. How many times has someone told you, “Don’t overthink it?” Yep, we can easily hurt ourselves and our loved ones with our thoughts. We can do real damage when we let ourselves get carried away with our thoughts. Remember, they’re just thoughts – there’s nothing that says we have to act on every single thought that enters our mind, right?
Don’t allow yourself to feel guilty and angry over your past decisions and actions. Don’t let yourself get stressed out about the things you’ve done that were not, shall we say, the wisest of decisions. The more you hang on to these things, the more you think about them, the worse off everyone is going to be. Take a deep breath, visualize, and then breathe it all out. Breathe it back to the Universe. Let that shit go.
